Here are the podcasts that I listen to (mostly) regularly (last updated )
All In- Stories about people living their faith. Because there are more important things than career.
The Art of Manliness- Lots of thought-provoking subjects on how to be a better man or why men are the way they are (in a non-toxic way). The website is pretty great as well.
Crafting Code Podcast- Podcast by a couple of past coworkers. Fun to listen to since I lived much of the experiences they talk about. Smart dudes, you should give it a listen.
The Economics of Everyday Things- If you ever enjoyed the How Stuff Works show, this has similar vibes. It's also short (with too many advertisements) which can be nice.
Engineering Culture by InfoQ- Let's be honest, engineering is more about people than technology nowadays. This has some interesting interviews along that topic.
Freakonomics Radio- Similar format to This American Life which I think is great. Talks about subjects from an economist's perspective. Haven't experienced a miss here, always entertaining.
Front End Happy Hour- Unsure if this is still going or not. I like the panel and the topics are interesting if you're into front end development.
Hanselminutes- Scott has to be one of the nicest guys on the Internet. His podcast covers so many technical and sociotechnical topics. The episodes are short and well done and despite Scott working for Microsoft, it's not a Microsoft-centric podcast.
Here's Where It Gets Interesting- I picked this up after following Sharon on her Instagram. In a world that is becoming increasingly politically polarized with so much misinformation going around, Sharon gives the facts and history behind politics. Professionally, she's been an American History teacher so she has the credentials for it.
The Important Thing- I like Rands' website, so I tried out his podcast. While his website is about technical leadership, this is more about random topics. Short and infrequent, but interesting to me nonetheless.
.Net Rocks!- One of the first podcasts I picked up back when I was a .Net engineer, and probably the oldest. Very much .Net-centric but occasionally has awesome geek-out shows about alternative energy, electric cars and stuff like that.
The Pragmatic Engineer- I had been following Gergely on Twitter for some time (now on Bluesky), checked out his newsletter, and now his podcast. Longer than I'd like but has some interesting sociotechnical commentary.
ShopTalk Show- Pretty chill show about CSS and webdev in general. If you are familiar with css-tricks.com, you'll be familiar with the hosts and the type of content from this show.
Soft Skills Engineering- I love this show. Jamison and Dave give out some good advice for the "softer side" of engineering, all with some hilarious commentary. Made even more interesting for me since they have ties to the Utah dev scene.
Small Batches- Currently on hiatus, the archives are just as relevant today as they were back when they were recorded. Recommended if you were ever interested in a better way to do software development.
Software Engineering Radio- I started listening to this because it came recommended. Since it covers pretty much everything in engineering, I sometime skip episodes. But because it's so varied, there's something for everyone.
Syntax- Very popular podcast on front end development. I like the hosts and is well-produced. Since they're owned by Sentry now, that also means there are no ads (besides the one-time Sentry call-outs every episode).
Tech Collector Podcast- Podcast that focuses on tech leaders in the Utah area. Interesting to hear how local companies and their leaders got their start.
This American Life- This podcast has nothing to do with software development, but I've enjoyed nearly every show. The subjects covered are so broad that I'm not going to attempt to describe it. Anyone can listen to this and enjoy it, highly recommend.
